Description

This Watercolour of Sea Holly shows of one of the flowers that grow in our cottage garden. Our garden at our thatched cottage shop in Adare has a wide array of flowers, including wild flowers, which Lucy plants and grows to provide inspiration in colour, textures and shape for her knitted pieces. Painting them allows her to study the forms and colour combinations. They are attractive to bees. The Watercolour of Sea Holly is a study of the flower shows Lucy’s interest in natural forms.

Watercolour allows Lucy to achieve delicate drawings and build depth and detail into the painting.

This Honey Suckle grows wild in the hedgerows and is painted here in watercolour by Lucy Erridge. One of the many wild flowers which Lucy plants and grows to provide inspiration in colour, textures and shape for her knitted pieces. Painting them allows her to study the forms and colour combinations.

Lucy is a knitwear designer and owner of our shop. She plants and tends our cottage garden. The flowers in our garden are a constant source of inspiration for Lucy’s knitwear designs. Part of the process of translating the flowers into inspiration is drawing the flowers. Sometimes she draws each flower individually for form and texture. Another time she draws the combinations of flowers and leaves for layout and composition.

Double mounted with green inner border, these paintings are ready for framing.
